A tragic collision between a bus and a car claimed the lives of ten people and left nineteen others injured as they were traveling to India’s Maha Kumbh Mela.
The accident occurred on the way to the religious festival, known as the world’s largest human gathering, currently taking place in Uttar Pradesh. Devotees attending the Maha Kumbh Mela often cross pontoon bridges over the Ganga River to reach the event.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has reportedly instructed officials to intensify relief efforts and ensure proper medical care for the injured. Indian President Droupadi Murmu expressed her grief over the incident, stating in a social media post on X,
“It is very sad to learn that many people were killed in a road accident on Mirzapur Highway in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.” She also extended her condolences to the families of the victims.
