Wigan defeated Australian champions Penrith Panthers at the DW Stadium to win it for a record-tying fifth time.
Abbas Miski and Kruise Leeming gave the Warriors two consecutive leads, but Nathan Cleary and Dylan Edwards gave the Panthers a response, putting them ahead 12–10 at the break.
After the interval, two crucial calls made by referee Liam Moore favored Wigan.
First he ruled that Jake Wardle had touched down to win it, before not giving Taylan May’s last-gasp effort.
The night was heartbreaking for Panthers.
The match was breathless from start to finish, with Wigan penned back for long periods but able to score on their only three real forays into opposition territory.
