An 18-year-old man from British Columbia is accused of trying to open an aircraft door in midair, which resulted in the plane being diverted to Winnipeg.
A representative for Winnipeg Airports Authority stated that passengers on WestJet flight 710, which was headed from Vancouver to Toronto, were forced to make an emergency stop at Winnipeg Richardson International Airport just after 4 p.m. on Friday.
About 30 minutes prior to the plane’s landing, RCMP Manitoba said in a statement on Saturday that it had received reports of an unruly passenger attempting to open the emergency door.
