Wigan boy, 15, drowns after being pulled out of the water at Scotman’s Flash

After being pulled out of the water at a sports activity center, a 15-year-old boy passed away.

The boy was found in the water by staff members, who tried to save him, but he passed away on the spot at Scotman’s Flash in Wigan on Saturday, September 7, at around 3:30 p.m.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) say it does not believe there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death

Officers are supporting the boy’s family.

Scotman’s Flash also confirmed the tragic news in a social media post, expressing their “deep sadness” over the incident.

The post went on, “Our staff saw the young man in the water and tried to save him but were sadly unable to.” “We want to express our gratitude for their bravery and tenacity.

“Our thoughts are with the young man’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.”

“A 15-year-old male was reported missing in the water at Scotman’s Flash, Wigan, at approximately 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024,” a GMP spokesperson said.

“The public helped pull him out of the water, but tragically, emergency services were unable to save his life.

“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and his family are being supported by specialist officers at this time
