A series of powerful rainstorms have flooded large portions of north-central Vietnam.

In central Vietnam, devastating flooding has resulted in at least three fatalities and over 10,000 evacuations, according to authorities on Tuesday.

The three individuals were said to have perished in flash floods in the province of Nghe An.

According to the ministry of agriculture, since Saturday, over 6,300 hectares of crops have been destroyed and about 320 houses have suffered damages.

It further stated that water was also submerged in at least 40 nearby school buildings.

In the last three days, over 11,700 people have fled their homes and sought refuge at higher elevations, according to provincial officials in Thanh Hoa.
