The United States and Arab states have begun secret negotiations with Iran for a comprehensive ceasefire aimed at calming all war fronts at once, Channel 12 reports.
The report says that Israel is not currently involved in the initiative, but adds that senior Israeli officials have been informed.
The channel notes that it is not clear how these efforts will affect Gaza, which is more complex than other fronts because of Israel’s desire to continue fighting even after a possible hostage deal and Hamas’s demand for a withdrawal Israeli in any agreement.
One of the senior Israeli officials was quoted as saying: “We are currently in a strong position, a ceasefire will be on our terms, including a [Hezbollah] withdrawal across the Litan [River] and the dismantling of all the sites of Hezbollah forces in the area near the border.
