According to his representative, US rapper Fatman Scoop passed away on Friday night in Connecticut at the age of 53 after passing away during a show.

Halfway through his performance, he collapsed on stage at Town Center Park in the city of Hamden.

Mayor Lauren Garrett posted on Facebook that the rapper was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.

His booking agency, MN2S, did, however, confirm his passing and say that the New Yorker’s “legacy will live on through his timeless music” in a statement to the BBC.
