US approves sale of extended-range missiles to Ukraine | The United States says it has approved the sale of thousands of extended-range missiles and other military equipment to Ukraine.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency said on Thursday that Ukraine had asked for up to 3,350 Extended Range Attack Munition missiles, satellite equipment and other items. The arms package is valued at about 825 million dollars.

The agency also said Ukraine will use funding from countries including Denmark, the Netherlands and Norway for the purchase.

CNN reports that although the administration of President Donald Trump has approved sales of equipment to sustain existing weapons, this appears to be its first major arms sale of new weapons to Ukraine.

CNN also reported that the missiles have a range of between 240 and 450 kilometers.
