Trump spoke to reporters on Air Force One on Thursday. He said, “We have a lot of ships going that direction, just in case.” But he also said he would “rather not see anything happen.” He said the fleet may not have to be used, adding, “We’ll see.”
Regarding his plan to impose a 25 percent tariff on any country doing business with Iran, he said, “I will do it.” He added, “Very soon.”
Trump has repeatedly indicated the possibility that the US may attack Iran militarily if Iranian authorities crack down on protesters.
But he thanked Iran on January 16, claiming that “Iran canceled the hanging of over 800 people.”
