Trump says Iran’s new supreme leader may be dead-

Speaking to Sky’s US partner, NBC News, Trump said: “I don’t know if he’s even alive. So far, nobody’s been able to show him…

“I’m hearing he’s not alive, and if he is, he should do something very smart for his country, and that’s surrender… Some of them think he’s alive but very badly wounded.”

His comments come a day after Pete Hegseth, the war secretary, said the supreme leader was likely “disfigured” after being wounded in US-Israeli attacks.

Trump also told NBC News he believes other countries will step in to help secure the Strait of Hormuz, the vital passage for oil exports that Iran is currently blocking.

“I don’t want to [name which countries might help]. But you can sort of guess. But I think countries that you’d be surprised at. And it could be other countries other than the ones I’ve named.”

Earlier, Trump wrote on Truth Social that “many countries” would be sending warships to help keep the vital waterway open, saying he hoped the UK, China, France, Japan, South Korea and “others” would step up
