Trump says ‘I sort of made up my mind’ on VenezuelaUS President Donald Trump says he has “sort of” decided how to proceed on Venezuela amid speculation the White House may order military action against the South American country.

The Trump administration claims that large amounts of drugs are being smuggled into the United States from countries such as Venezuela.

Since September, the US has attacked boats allegedly carrying drugs in waters off Venezuela and elsewhere. It has also deployed an advanced aircraft carrier to the region.

Trump spoke to reporters on board Air Force One, heading to Florida on Friday.

Asked by a reporter whether he has decided what to do next, Trump said, “I sort of made up my mind.”

He also said, “I can’t tell you what it is, but we’ve made a lot of progress with Venezuela in terms of stopping drugs from pouring in.”

The Washington Post reported that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine “returned to the White House on Friday for a second consecutive day of deliberations centered on potential military action in Venezuela.”

Meanwhile, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro spoke at an event in the capital Caracas on Friday, urging people in the US to “stop the insane hand of those who order bombing, killing and bringing war to South America, to the Caribbean.” He said, “Stop the war. No to war.”

Maduro also said: “Do we want another Gaza now in South America? What does the people of the United States say? Do you want a new Afghanistan?”

“Let me tell you: no, no and no,” he said, adding, “Here peace will triumph, international law will triumph.”
