Trump: ‘Operation Colombia sounds good to me’Some lines are coming into us from Air Force One, as Donald Trump flies from Mar-a-Lago to Washington DC.

He’s told reporters that the service members who were injured during Nicolas Maduro’s capture are all in good shape.

The president has also suggested his current priority is to “fix” Venezuela rather than hold an election – and warned the US needs total access to its oil reserves.

Elsewhere, he suggested that the US may embark on military operations elsewhere in South America.

“Colombia is very sick, too, ‍run by a sick man, who likes making cocaine and selling ‌it to the United States, ‌and he’s not going to be doing it very long,” Trump said in an apparent reference to President Gustavo Petro.

When asked whether the US would take action, he added: “It sounds good to ‌me.”

JD Vance has so far been notably quiet on the US attack on Venezuela and capture of Nicolas Maduro – unlike other members of the governments that are often cast as his rivals, such as Marco Rubio.

However, earlier today, the US vice president came out swinging addressing criticisms of the intervention, particular on drugs and oil.

Meanwhile, Vice President JD Vance addressed some criticisms of the U.S. action in Venezuela, particularly regarding drugs and oil.
Nicolas Maduro could appear in a Manhattan court later today – with Donald Trump telling reporters on Air Force One that Colombia’s president is a “sick man” who won’t be in power for long.
