TikTok sued for ‘wreaking havoc’ on teen mental health

TikTok faces new lawsuits that claim the platform is bad for children’s mental health
The complaint comes from several US states. They claim that the way TikTok presents content to users makes it addictive and spreads inappropriate content. TikTok sued for “causing chaos” in the mental health of teenagers

More than a dozen US states have sued TikTok, accusing the social media platform of helping to cause a mental health crisis among teenagers.
A bipartisan group of 14 attorneys general from across the country says the company used addictive features to lure children to the app and intentionally misled the public about the safety of prolonged use.
TikTok called the lawsuit “disappointing” and said it believed many of the allegations were “inaccurate and misleading.” The platform is already facing a law approved by Congress in April that bans it in the United States unless Chinese parent Bytedance agrees to a sale.
