Three dead and 15 hurt in Shanghai Walmart stabbing

On Monday night, a man went on a stabbing rampage inside a Walmart supermarket in Shanghai, leaving three people dead and fifteen injured.

A 37-year-old man with the last name Lin was taken into custody by Chinese police at the scene, they said, adding that he had traveled to Shanghai in order to “vent his anger due to a personal economic dispute.” Investigations are still ongoing.

The event took place at a mall in Songjiang, a densely populated area southwest of the city home to several universities.

The three fatalities, according to the police, passed away from their wounds in the hospital. Given that the other individuals “did not sustain life-threatening wounds,” it is believed that they are not in danger.

The incident took place at a shopping mall in Songjiang, a densely populated district in the city’s south-west, which is also home to several universities.
