Three brigadier-genernals sentenced to death in Myanmar. The junta in Myanmar has sentenced three brigadierier-generals to death for their January surrender with hundreds of troops and their January transfer of a crucial town close to the Chinese border to ethnic minority fighters, according to military sources on February 19.

Following months of fighting in which the military lost large swathes of territory, hundreds of soldiers dropped their weapons and turned over the town of Laukkai in Shan state to the so-called Three Brotherhood Alliance.

The surrender, one of the biggest single losses in military history, made those who had previously supported the junta leadership more critical of it.
