Fountains of lava have spewed from a fissure in south-west Iceland, in the third volcanic eruption since December.Iceland’s Meteorological Office has said the Sylingar fell volcano, near Grindavik, is erupting again.
The spread of the hot smoking flow was captured in extraordinary live footage from the scene.
At one point on Thursday morning, a work crew – in what appeared to be a digger – moved along a road towards the mass of lava as it edged towards them.
The nearby town of Grindavik was already evacuated during the last eruption on 14 January, and on Thursday guests were told to leave the popular Blue Lagoon geothermal spa because of the latest eruption
