The US military claims that two civilian Iranian mariners were saved last week.

According to a statement from the US military, two civilian Iranian mariners were saved on August 23 in international waters by sailors serving on a US aircraft carrier.

According to the US Central Command, “two mariners in distress were rescued by the Theodore Roosevelt Strike Group within the USCENTCOM area of operations (AOR).”

Currently in the Middle East are two carrier strike groups: USS Theodore Roosevelt and USS Abraham Lincoln. Within the operational domain of Central Command, the Theodore Roosevelt Strike Group is engaged in routine operations.
