Israeli forces “struck and eliminated” Amal members who “operated within a Hezbollah military structure” in Froun on Saturday, according to a military statement.
The Amal movement, an ally of Hezbollah, reported that two of its members had perished in Saturday’s strike.
It added that the attack was “the second of its kind against an emergency team in less than 12 hours.”
In response to what it described as “Israeli enemy attacks” on south Lebanon, Hezbollah had on Saturday announced a series of attacks on Israeli troops and positions close to the border, including the use of Katyusha rockets and “explosives-laden drones.”
The cross-border violence has killed some 614 people in Lebanon, mostly fighters but also including 138 civilians, according to an AFP tally.
Authorities on the Israeli side, including in the Golan Heights that they have annexed, have reported that at least 24 soldiers and 26 civilians have died.
