The Israeli military later said it had ended its retaliation against Iran about three hours after the news. The Israeli military has also warned Iran of further escalation.
The Israeli military said the attacks were a response to “continuous monthly attacks by Iran.” Israel had long vowed to respond to the Iranian missile attack on its territory on October 1.
The Iranian attack follows the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in late September in Lebanon.
It also follows the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh, killed in an explosion in Tehran in July, which Iranian officials blamed on Israel.
