Police have arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of murder after a stabbing attack on Saturday night in the bustling Dotonbori district of Osaka City, western Japan.
Police made the arrest on Sunday morning in the city after the man fled the scene. Those stabbed were three 17-year-old boys, and one later died.
Police received emergency calls shortly after 11:50 p.m. reporting multiple stabbings on the ground floor of a building.
Kamada Ryunosuke, a resident of neighboring Nara Prefecture, died at a hospital from stab wounds to the chest and other areas.
The two other victims, both from Osaka Prefecture, were stabbed in the upper body and taken to hospital, though their conditions have not been disclosed.
Police say the suspect apparently had a quarrel with the three boys before the attack.
The four had reportedly been involved in a dispute just before the incident, and police were investigating the matter.
Authorities received an emergency call from a passerby early Sunday reporting that people had been stabbed at the first-floor entrance of a building in the Dotonbori district.
