Seven people, including a 16-year-old girl, were killed in road crashes on the island of Ireland yesterday-

Three people were killed in a collision near Armagh city last night.

The three-vehicle crash occurred on the Moy Road shortly before 10.30pm.

Two men, aged 49 and 31, and a 23-year-old woman were pronounced dead at the scene.

Four other people were injured, with three being treated in hospitals in Belfast and Armagh.

PSNI Assistant Chief Constable Davy Beck said the families of those who died have been informed and family liaison officers are supporting them.

“One can only imagine the real sense of shock and grief that is engulfing those families at this particular time.”

He expressed his “personal” and “heartfelt” condolences to the families impacted by this “real tragedy”.

In Co Meath, a man has been arrested after a 16-year-old girl died in a hit-and-run incident in Navan, Co Meath yesterday evening.

The incident, involving a car, occurred on the Slane Road at around 8.20pm. The driver of the car failed to remain at the scene.
