India’s foreign secretary accuses Pakistan of violating ceasefire after reports of blasts
The Indian foreign secretary Vikram Misri has just addressed reports that explosions have been heard since the ceasefire between the two nations was agreed.
He says: “For the last few hours, there have been repeated violations of the understanding we arrived at earlier this evening. This is a breach of the understanding arrived at earlier today.”
Misri added that India’s armed forces have been “given instructions to deal strongly with violations along the border”, calling on Pakistan to “halt the violation”.
Pakistan has yet to comment on Misri’s statement.
Blasts have been heard and projectiles seen in the sky above the Indian city of Jammu, witnesses have told the Reuters news agency.
The city is located in the Indian-administered Kashmir region.

It comes hours after both Pakistan and India agreed to a ceasefire following US-led talks.
