Report: IDF special forces entered Hezbollah tunnels during Lebanon cross-border operations

According to the Wall Street Journal, Israeli special forces have conducted minor incursions into Lebanon in recent months, including deploying soldiers into Hezbollah tunnels situated near the border.

According to the report, the targeted raids are in preparation for what might be a larger ground operation later this week.

The source points out that Israel is facing strong pressure from the US not to go ahead with an operation, so the timing of the possible incursion may alter.
According to the report, rather than launching a ground offensive, the IDF may conduct more extensive raids in Lebanon.

According to Tal Beeri, an expert on underground warfare, Hezbollah’s tunnel network spans several hundred kilometers. He made this revelation to The Times of Israel in January.

According to Beeri, Hezbollah has also dug tactical tunnels directly into Israel, but those tunnels were discovered and demolished by the IDF during the January 2019 Operation Northern Shield.
