Elections: Rahul Gandhi vs Dinesh Pratap Singh

In a resounding victory, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi secured the Rae Bareli seat in Uttar Pradesh during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. After 7 hours of counting on Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi emerged victorious with a margin of over 4 lakh votes, significantly surpassing the gap his mother, Sonia Gandhi, achieved in 2019. Rahul amassed over 670,000 votes, placing BJP’s Dinesh Pratap Singh in a distant second position and BSP’s Thakur Prasad Yadav third.

The Rae Bareli constituency, known for its political significance, saw its EVMs and ballot boxes opened in Phase 5 of the Lok Sabha 2024 elections on May 20. This election featured new faces as candidates vying for the coveted seat. With Sonia Gandhi opting out of the Lok Sabha elections after being elected to the Rajya Sabha, the Congress party nominated Rahul Gandhi to capitalize on the family’s strong legacy in Rae Bareli. Despite a competitive race, Rahul Gandhi’s win by a substantial margin reinforces the Gandhi family’s enduring influence in this key constituency.
