Pope Francis’s situation was “stable” on Thursday morning compared to the condition reported the previous evening as the pontiff has entered his 14th day at the Agostino Gemelli Hospital where he is being treated for double pneumonia, Vatican sources said.The pontiff “woke up, had breakfast and is continuing therapy, also undergoing new tests”.The results are set to be communicated in a new medical update on Thursday afternoon, the sources said.The pontiff was not reported to have received new visits although he is briefed on “what happens, in particular on the prayer initiatives of worshippers”, explained the Vatican sources.They added that the 88-year-old Argentine pope is continuing to receive oxygen therapy and that he “sits in an armchair”.His mood “remains good”, they said.Earlier on Thursday, the Vatican Press Office said Pope Francis had slept well during the night and was resting.In an evening medical bulletin released late on Wednesday, the Vatican said the pontiff suffered no further respiratory crises but his prognosis remained guarded.”Today’s blood tests and haematocytometric tests” “confirmed yesterday’s improvement” explained the medical bulletin released last evening on the conditions of the pope hospitalized at the Agostino Gemelli Hospital.The Holy Father, the note also said, “continues high-flow oxygen therapy; today too he…. ……. ……… …………………The reports..did not present asthmatic respiratory crises……however,Respiratory physiotherapy continues”.
