Pope has made the second-fastest hundred ever by an England captain. And Ben Duckett missed out on one – but he is on the list Rob mentioned earlier, in the all-time top three of the fastest fifties by Test openers after their team has been put into bat. Duckett’s strike rate today, 123 per hundred balls, was even quicker than England’s last two entries on this list – both by Duckett himself. His partner Zak Crawley, interestingly, is not on the list at all. On a flat pitch, Crawley is your man; on a greentop, Duckett stands tall.
