On Saturday, thousands of people marched in the Mexican capital to express their disapproval of President Claudia Sheinbaum’s administration and violent crime.
Sheinbaum claimed that right-wing politicians who are against her government had provided funding for the marches, which also happened in other cities.
Gen Z youth organizations organized the rally, which drew support from people opposing high-profile murders, such as the assassination of Uruapan Mayor Carlos Manzo a few weeks prior, who had demanded strict measures against cartels.

Demonstrators dismantled parts of a barrier protecting the National Palace, where Sheinbaum lives. Police protecting the compound used tear gas on the crowds.
