Pakistan continues airstrikes on Afghanistan-

Military clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan continued on Friday night. The violence has so far left over 320 dead, according to tallies by both sides.

Tensions over the handling of extremist activity around the border triggered armed clashes between the two countries on Thursday.

Pakistan’s military has bombed the Afghan capital Kabul and other locations.

Pakistani security authorities say the military conducted an airstrike on Friday night, targeting a military facility in Afghanistan’s eastern Nangarhar province.

A military spokesperson told reporters before the airstrikes that it had killed 274 people, including officials of the interim Taliban government and soldiers.

A Taliban spokesperson told reporters on Friday night that Pakistan is responsible for the military clashes, and that the Afghan government wishes to solve the dispute through dialogue.

China, Russia and Turkey are calling on both countries to agree on a ceasefire, but the outlook appears dim as Pakistan has not softened its hardline stance.
