Authorities in Pakistan have charged a man with cyber terrorism, in relation to disinformation thought to have fuelled UK unrest.

According to police, Farhan Asif was connected to a website that suggested the alleged attacker in Southport was an asylum seeker who had come to the UK on a small boat.

In the hours following the attack, an article on the website Channel3Now went viral on social media, garnering a lot of quotes.

Following the horrifying stabbing attack that claimed the lives of three young girls, unrest erupted in both England and Northern Ireland.
