Stevens Construction, a prominent builder on the NSW Central Coast, has plunged into liquidation. Established in 2006, the company recently completed high-profile projects, including an apartment complex for socialite entrepreneur John Singleton and supermarkets for Coles and Woolworths.
Stevens Construction, based in Erina, was placed into liquidation on Friday, two months after entering voluntary administration. The company, which built the $33 million Bonython Tower in central Gosford for the John Singleton Group in 2019, will now see its assets sold and divided among creditors.
John Singleton praised Stevens Construction for turning his vision into reality. Bonython Tower features 56 luxury apartments, including Singleton’s penthouse, which sold for $1.6 million. The complex offers two-bedroom, water-view apartments priced between $590,000 and $640,000.
Stevens Construction’s client list included major supermarket chains like Coles, Woolworths, Aldi, and IGA, as well as fast-food giants McDonald’s and KFC, service stations BP and Mobil, and the NSW government.
BRI Ferrier, the insolvency firm that managed Stevens Construction’s administration, is now overseeing the liquidation process under Peter Krejci, Andrew Cummins, and Jonathon Keenan.
In 2019, Stevens Construction won the Commercial Builder of the Year Award at the Newcastle Master Builders Association Excellence in Building Awards. However, the construction industry is struggling, with firms facing insolvency due to rising building material costs and soaring interest rates.
