Netanyahu warns Lebanon against ‘Gaza-like destruction’
The Israeli prime minister made a direct appeal to the Lebanese people to get rid of Hezbollah and avoid “the destruction and suffering we are seeing in Gaza,” according to the BBC.
Benjamin Netanyahu’s call comes Tuesday as Israel expands its ground offensive against Hezbollah by sending thousands of additional troops into a new area in southwestern Lebanon.
Netanyahu also claimed that the Israel Defense Forces had killed the successor to former Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, but the Israeli military later said it could not confirm the death of Hashem Safieddine.
Elsewhere, Hezbollah fighters fired rockets into the Israeli port city of Haifa for the third day in a row, wounding 12 people.
