Netanyahu asks the UN to remove peacekeepers “out of danger” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has asked the United Nations to evacuate peacekeepers from combat zones in southern Lebanon.
“Mr. Secretary General, remove the UNIFIL forces from danger. This must be done immediately, immediately,” Netanyahu said in a video released by his office on Sunday. In a cabinet meeting, Netanyahu said that Israeli forces had repeatedly asked UNIFIL to leave the territory, but had “repeated refusals”.

At least five members of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) have been injured in recent days in fighting between Israel and Hezbollah.
“We regret that UNIFIL soldiers were injured and we are doing everything in our power to prevent this from happening,” Netanyahu said. “But the simplest and most obvious way to ensure this is simply to remove them from the danger zone.”
