Massive explosions in Beirut after apparent Israeli attack near airport
Israel says it has killed a Hezbollah commander after a July attack on a soccer field in the Golan Heights that killed 12 children and teenagers. Eighteen people were killed in an Israeli attack in the West Bank. Fresh explosions were heard in southern Beirut and reports from the Lebanese capital indicated that an area outside the airport was hit by an Israeli attack.
Earlier, the Israeli army ordered civilians near two buildings on the southern outskirts of the city to leave the structures.
In the occupied West Bank, Palestinian health authorities say at least 16 people have been killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Tulkarem refugee camp.
Crude oil prices rose 5% after US President Joe Biden said the US was discussing the possibility of Israeli attacks on Iran’s oil industry.
