Daniel Billings, accused in the tragic domestic violence murder case of Molly Ticehurst, is currently held at NSW’s toughest prison facility.
Appearing via video link from the High Risk Management Correctional Centre at Goulburn jail, Billings, clad in prison greens with dreadlocked hair and a moustache, silently acknowledged the proceedings in Parkes Local Court on Thursday morning.
The 29-year-old, facing charges including murder, appeared from a specialized unit within Goulburn jail known for housing high-risk and high-profile male inmates, according to Corrective Services NSW.
Magistrate Brett Thomas adjourned the hearing to allow prosecutors time to prepare evidence against Billings, who stands accused of murdering 28-year-old Ms Ticehurst in her Forbes home in April.
Billings had been on bail at the time of the alleged murder, facing earlier charges related to Ms. Ticehurst, including sexual assault, stalking, property damage, and animal cruelty.
His bail, initially granted before the incident, was later revoked following his arrest for the murder charge and related breaches.
The case has drawn widespread attention, contributing to reforms in NSW’s bail laws amid heightened awareness of gendered violence issues.
The next court appearance for Billings is scheduled for August 22 at Parkes Local Court, where he will again attend via audio-visual link as granted by Magistrate Thomas.
