The heartbroken family of a woman mowed down by a car while reportedly carrying Christmas presents have paid tribute.
Lin Donnelly, 72, was struck by a blue Ford Focus in Merseyside on Thursday night.
Witnesses described seeing bags and festive presents strewn across Brewster Street, Bootle and “blood everywhere”.
A 46-year-old man from Liverpool has since been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.
He has been interviewed and bailed pending further inquiries, police said.
In a statement, Mrs Donnelly’s loved ones said: “Words can’t describe the pain in our hearts at the unbearable loss of you.
“Our life will never be the same without you.”
Emergency services rushed to the scene in Merseyside at around 7.45pm to reports of a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene, police said.
Mrs Donnelly was taken to hospital but sadly died a short time later.
A couple who witnessed the incident told the Liverpool Echo that “bags and Christmas presents” were strewn across the road. Another described seeing “blood everywhere”.
