Rodri, a midfield player for Manchester City and Spain, may miss the rest of the season due to an ACL injury, according to reports that surfaced in Spain on Monday.
During Sunday’s Premier League game between City and Arsenal, the 28-year-old went down clutching his right knee and hobbled off.
Tests on Monday verified an ACL tear, according to reports from ESPN and the Spanish sports daily Marca.City’s hopes of winning the Premier League for a record-tying fifth time and the Champions League once more would be severely damaged by Rodri’s departure.
Only one of the former Atletico Madrid player’s 84 club and national team losses have occurred.
He has been predicted to win this year’s Ballon d’Or because of his important role in both Spain’s triumph at Euro 2024 and City’s most recent Premier League title.
