The body of Danielle McLaughlin was found by a farmer in March 2017 on a popular tourist beach in Goa.
Justice had “finally been achieved” after last week’s guilty verdict, according to Ms. McLaughlin’s mother and a sister.
A post-mortem examination revealed that the 28-year-old County Donegal woman had been raped and strangled.
After the guilty verdict last week, Ms. McLaughlin’s mother and a sister said that justice had “finally been achieved.”
According to her mother Andrea Brannigan and sister Joleen McLaughlin Brannigan, “Vikat Bhagat was solely responsible for cruelly ending her beautiful life and there was no other suspect or gang involved in Danielle’s death.”
“We have endured what has effectively been an eight-year murder trial with numerous delays and issues, all the way to the end, thousands of miles away from Danielle’s home today.”
