Following a suspected mauling, a man was discovered dead in a garden in the West Midlands, prompting police to launch a dog search for two dogs.
The dead man, 33, was attacked by at least one dog, according to West Midlands Police, and his wounds may have played a role in his demise.
Early on Wednesday morning, reports of several dogs running loose prompted officers to respond to Hereford Close in Rubery, Birmingham.
The dogs are thought to have come from the home’s back garden, where the man’s body was discovered.
Police recovered two dogs from the scene, but they are currently searching for two more American Bulldogs that may have been at the address at the time.It is thought that none of the dogs involved are of a prohibited breed.
In addition to searching for a black dog that resembles one of the dogs they are looking for, police have shared an image of one of the dogs.
In an effort to locate the animals, West Midlands Police stated that they are conducting door-to-door inquiries, looking through CCTV, and deploying specialized dog officers in addition to a drone unit.
On Thursday, a post mortem will be conducted to determine the man’s cause of death.
Birmingham Police Superintendent Sally Simpson stated: “This is a really tragic incident, and officers are supporting the man’s family.”
“We are still looking into his death, but right now we are focusing on tracking down the other dogs we think might have been involved.”
“We have officers liaising with vets and the local authority, and we are using our drone capability to scour the wider area,” said Inspector Leanne Chapman of the force’s dog unit.
