Liverpool Win 4-0 Over Spurs, Should Be Better

Liverpool thrash Spurs to set up League Cup final with Newcastle – CNAAbject”, “damaging” and “disgrace”. Those were all words used to describe Tottenham’s Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg defeat by Liverpool.

I did warn you, Spurs fans, it’s going to be a tough morning. But you knew that.

“I cannot get my head around not having one shot on target in the semi-final. They were so abject,” said former Tottenham midfielder Jamie Redknapp on Sky Sports.

“I cannot remember a team in my lifetime go down with less of a fight than Tottenham did today.

“There have been some lows but that today, looking at that scoreline, is just horrendous.”

Tottenham went into Thursday’s match with a one-goal advantage after they beat Liverpool in the first-leg tie at the Tottenham Stadium weeks ago but were unable to capitalise on it at Anfield.

Cody Gakpo opened the scoring for Liverpool in the first half before Mohamed Salah doubled the lead from a penalty six minutes into the second half.

Dominik Szoboszlai extended the lead in the 75th minute before Virgil van Dijk’s header sealed the victory for the Reds.

Liverpool and Newcastle United now head to Wembley Stadium on March 16, where the Reds are going to try to defend the title and the Magpies out for consolation after the final loss to Manchester United two years ago
