In the midst of turmoil, the Presidential Council of Tripoli establishes a new board of directors and suspends banking operations.

According to the Financial Times, Libya’s central bank governor, Sadiq al-Kabir, and other senior staff members had to leave the nation due to threats from armed militia.

In a phone interview that the newspaper published on Friday, al-Kabir stated, “Militias are threatening and terrifying bank staff and are sometimes abducting their children and relatives to force them to go to work.”
