Lebanon says more than 1,000 killed in Israeli attacks

Authorities in Lebanon say more than 1,000 people have been killed in the country since Israeli forces and the Shia Muslim group Hezbollah began their latest round of fighting.

The officials said on Thursday that the hostilities have left 1,001 people dead and 2,584 others wounded.

The Israeli military said on the same day that over the past 24 hours, its troops had struck dozens of military structures belonging to Hezbollah.

Hezbollah said its members targeted an Israeli position with attack drones on Thursday.

The United Nations quotes Lebanon’s Ministry of Social Affairs as saying that as of Monday, more than 1 million people had fled their homes during the first two weeks of the conflict.
