At a White House event, Kamala Harris and Joe Biden announced the executive order. The president’s staff will evaluate whether active shooter drills could traumatize teachers and students in accordance with the directive.
The order also seeks to establish a new task force to investigate the dangers of machine-gun conversion devices, which have the ability to turn a semi-automatic handgun into a fully automatic weapon.
The task force will also examine the rapidly spreading 3D-printed firearms, which can be made with ease using an online code and cannot be tracked because they lack a serial number.
Shortly before Biden is scheduled to depart office, the task force has ninety days to turn in its report.
