Protesters branded JD Vance a ‘traitor’ over his bust-up with Volodymyr Zelenskyy after targeting his family’s ski vacation.
Hundreds of demonstrators held placards with messages including “national disgrace” and “go ski in Russia” in Vermont following the Vice President’s televised spat with the Ukrainian leader. They had descended on the exclusive Sugarbush Resort yesterday after catching wind that Vance was set to vacation there. The angry protest came after Vance gave Zelenskyy a very public dressing down in the Oval Office on Friday, where he accused him of ‘disrespecting the U.S.’s generosity’. He also alleged the war-time leader had used ‘propaganda tours’ to drum up support for his country following Russia’s invasion.
Despite the ugly scenes, the meeting between Zelenskyy, Trump and other senior US politicians originally kicked off with mutual respect. The two presidents initially swapped kind words, with Trump even touching upon possible military support for Ukraine ahead of a peace deal with Russia.
