Japan’s empress emeritus leaves hospital – Empress emeritus Michiko left the hospital Sunday afternoon after receiving treatment for a fractured right hip.
The 89-year-old former empress underwent surgery for the fracture at Tokyo University Hospital on Tuesday after falling at the Sento Imperial Residence in Tokyo on October 6. Empress Emeritus Michiko was released from hospital on Sunday afternoon after being treated for a fractured right femur.
