Japan: 5.3 magnitude earthquake north of Tokyo

DW reported a medium-sized earthquake, with its epicenter north of Tokyo, has rattled buildings in Japan. No tsunami warning was issued in the aftermath.NHK added

The quake struck around 9:08 a.m. on Thursday.
The Meteorological Agency estimates that it was focused in southern Ibaraki Prefecture, at a depth of 50 kilometers.

The quake registered lower five on the Japanese seismic scale of zero to seven in Tochigi and Saitama prefectures.

Tremors of one through four were registered in many areas from northeastern through central Japan.

East Japan Railway says Tohoku Shinkansen bullet train services were temporarily suspended between Tokyo and Shin-Aomori stations due to a power outage.

Hokuriku Shinkansen services have been suspended .
