senior commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has warned that Israeli nuclear facilities will be targeted if Israel takes action against Iranian nuclear sites.
Tasnim News Agency, which is linked to the Revolutionary Guards, carried the comments by Brigadier General Ahmad Haqtalab on Thursday.
He spoke amid concern that Israel could attack Iranian nuclear sites in retaliation for the missile and drone attack launched by Tehran against Israel over the weekend.
Haqtalab, who is in charge of ensuring the security of Iranian nuclear sites, said Israel’s nuclear facilities have been identified.
He said that if Israel attempts to use the threat of attacking Iranian nuclear facilities to pressure Tehran, his country’s nuclear doctrine is likely to be revised.
Iran currently maintains that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes and Tehran has no intention of possessing nuclear weapons.
The Israeli government has been discussing its response to the Iranian attack.
