Israel Defense Forces say they destroyed bunker in Tehran.

Forces said on Friday that they destroyed an underground military bunker in the Iranian capital Tehran. They said senior Iranian officials continued to use the bunker after Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed.

The IDF said the attack involved about 50 fighter jets and that Khamenei was intending to use the bunker before being killed in the initial strikes.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said in a statement that it will “fight until there is no sedition.” It added that it has used missiles and drones to carry out more than 20 waves of attacks.

A spokesperson for the Iranian government said about 30 percent of casualties from the United States and Israeli strikes are children. Qatar-based broadcaster Al Jazeera quoted the Red Crescent as saying more than 1,300 people have been killed.

US President Donald Trump took to social media to call for Iran’s “unconditional surrender,” and he wrote that whoever succeeds Khamenei must be “acceptable” to the US.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the US expects the fighting “to last about four to six weeks.”

Trump has reportedly spoken with the leaders of armed Kurdish groups that oppose the Iranian regime.

Tanaka Koichiro, a Middle East expert and professor at Keio University, told NHK that Trump is trying to shake up Iran’s regime from the inside by supporting the Kurdish groups.

He said, “This means that the military attacks have not triggered the kind of demonstrations, and the kind of unrest, in Iran that Trump had expected.”

Iranian media reported that a senior Iranian defense official said all facilities in the Kurdish region of Iraq will be targeted if the groups approach Iran’s borders.
