Civial Aviation Minister Naidu expressed displeasure at the manner in which the situation was handled. He underlined the fact that airlines were given enough preparatory time to ensure a seamless transition to the new regulatory requirements. After IndiGo cancelled more than 550 domestic and international flights on Thursday, the airline major briefed the Directorate General of Civil Aviation about its plan to fully restore flight operations.Airports across the country witnessed chaotic scenes for the third straight day.
The airline’s statement came on a day the civil aviation ministry and DGCA held a detailed review meeting with the airline officials and CEO Pieter Elbers told staff that IndiGo had failed to “live up to the promise”.Our immediate goal is to normalise ops, bring punctuality back on track in coming days, which is not an easy task… time for all of us to come together & prove our mettle once again,” he added.
