Gandhi will reportedly bear the expense the children’s education until they graduate
Indian opposition leader Rahul Gandhi said he would take on the educational expenses of 22 children from Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir who were orphaned following the military conflict between India and Pakistan in May, Indian media outlets reported Tuesday.
The children are from the Poonch district, which lies in the west of the disputed territory and borders the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan.
Also on Tuesday, Indian authorities said three militants suspected of involvement in the Pahalgam attack that sparked the conflict were killed.
