The party student leader of Sheikh Hasina is beaten to death on campus.

Shamim Ahmed was a well-known student at Jahangirnagar University in the capital city of Dhaka and a part of the student wing of Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League party, according to police officer Abu Bakkar. A Bangladeshi student leader was brutally attacked at his university, most likely in reprisal for attacks on protesters during the uprising that deposed former prime minister Sheikh Hasina last month.

Shamim Ahmed was enrolled at Jahangirnagar University in the capital Dhaka, and was a top member of the student wing of Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League party, police officer Abu Bakkar told AFP.

Bakkar claims that Ahmed was attacked on Wednesday night by unidentified assailants for leading a campus assault on student demonstrators in the middle of July, just as calls were intensifying for Sheikh Hasina to resign from her position.

The officer stated, “We took him to the Gonoshasthaya Hospital, where he later passed away.”

Hospital personnel informed AFP that Ahmed had passed away following his admission with numerous injuries.
